Chris Weidman Out Six to 12 Months With Broken Leg
Former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman (15-6-0) suffered a horrific and graphic broken leg seconds into his match versus Uriah Hall at Saturday's UFC 261 pay-per-view.
On Monday, Weidman posted an update on his recovery on Instagram.
Per Brett Okamoto of ESPN, Weidman broke the tibia and fibula in his right leg when Hall checked a leg kick. The 36-year-old remains in the hospital after having a titanium rod inserted into his leg via surgery.
Pretty brutal, but I'm going to get through this, I think it's going to be eight weeks until I can walk without crutches, drive and all that. As far as training, they said between six to 12 months I'll be good to go.

He continued:
I'm trying to find the blessing in disguise, a silver lining. Honestly, as soon as it happened and I hit the floor, saw my leg and the pain started hitting me, I tried to keep my mind on something positive that will come out of this. I'm hopeful something will come out of it that's good, because this is not fun. I can't believe it happened.

Weidman has now lost six of his last eight bouts, and his status in the UFC is up in the air.
