A Palace x Ralph Lauren collaboration is coming
The joint line was announced in Tokyo with three billboards featuring the brands’ logos
After announcing their collaboration via three navy blue billboards in Tokyo’s Shibuya district last week, London-based skateboard label Palace and American fashion house Ralph Lauren are the latest brands to join forces and blur the lines between streetwear and high fashion.
Although many details of the collaboration remain unclear – in line with Palace’s secretive retail strategy – the joint collection is set to drop imminently, and is inspired by the Polo garments that Palace’s co-founders Lev Tanju and Gareth Skewis have worn through the years. “It’s the only brand that you can wear to a board meeting, a funeral and go to the football in – all in the same day,” Tanju told Business of Fashion.
And there’s good news. The collection, which includes tops, trousers, outerwear, and accessories, as well as a re-worked version of the classic Polo shirt featuring both brands’ logos, will have Palace’s price points as opposed to Ralph Lauren’s. According to Tanju and Skewis, their curated approach to the collaboration will mark a highlight in Palace’s history. “Collaborations – it’s what people do now, it’s like seasons,” added Skewis. “For me and Lev, this is a massive moment for us and a real pinnacle.”
