Slough Taekwon-do Club
Slough Taekwondo Club was founded by two Singapore Chinese brothers, Toh Kok Leong and Toh Kok Sum, who came to study at Slough College. Whilst in Slough they met up with some martial arts enthusiasts and Slough Taekwondo Club was formed. The Club was very popular amongst young budding martial artists from the local community, and between 1979 -1984 the Club produced several Regional, National and International Taekwondo Champions.
However one of the brothers then returned to Singapore and the other ventured in to the restaurant business and the Club was disbanded. A few hardcore members reassembled and resumed training in a multi storey car park behind The Pied Horse pub in Slough High Street. The group then could afford to hire out a hall at the local Sports Centre (Montem), with the highest grades taking turns in teaching their fellow students.
