Middlesbrough A C (Mandale)
Our Club, which was formed in 1975, operates a welcoming, fair and inclusive approach where all abilities can take part in athletics. Every-one is treated with respect and we strive to create an atmosphere that encourages all athletes to reach their potential. As well as working towards individual goals athletes have the opportunity to compete both as an individual and as part of a team. This encourages the development of team spirit and creates a nurturing and supportive environment where athletes help each other.
The Club is based at Middlesbrough Sports Village and in the Spring and Summer months training sessions take place there. Training in the winter months can take place at other venues depending on the group. Young athletes under the age of thirteen years follow a multi-disciplinary approach consisting of running, jumps and throws. The Club uses the UKA 365 Programme to ensure that youngsters develop their skills in a way appropriate to their age. After thirteen years of age athletes work with specialist coaches giving them the opportunity to hone their skills in a particular discipline. Coaches all follow UKA courses giving them a coaching licence awarded by UKA and are also subjected to DBS checks.
The Club is run by a Committee determined each year at the AGM. Members serve for a year but can stand for re-election as many times as they wish. Committee Meetings are held approximately every month when members work to develop and progress the Club. The Club's Constitution and Committee Meeting Minutes can be found under the "Governance" section.
Every year the Club holds an Awards Night where athletes are recognised for their achievements over the previous year. This is a great opportunity for the Club to showcase athletes and for family and friends to join in the celebrations.
