Colne Valley Riding Club
The Club was started in 2001 when a group of like-minded riders in the Essex/Suffolk border areas wanted to form a group which would actively encourage and develop the "grass roots" riders as well as those who are more competitive. Their idea was obviously a good one as Colne Valley continues to be a very active and successful Riding Club. Colne Valley Riding Club are affiliated to the British Riding Clubs organisation and through this members can enjoy the assurance that the administration of the club and their competitive and training activities will be to the standards required of an affiliated riding club.
The Committee principally organises a series of activities and competitions as the backbone of the Colne Valley year, including dressage competitions, clear round cross country days and a "stress free" fun ride. These all have proved very popular, especially our dressage competitions which competitors consistently report as being friendly and well run.
In addition to the regular calendar events, Colne Valley members have the opportunity to suggest new activities, and any member with a good idea will be supported by the Committee in making that a reality. For example, the hugely popular annual camp has gone from strength to strength since being started off by two members in 2007. The vast number of activities which Colne Valley have enjoyed have included clinics, talks and demonstrations (one of these involving the unravelling of a life sized model of a horse's intestine!), quizzes, hound rides - and evenings in the pub.
